Veda Bartringer is a Luxembourgish guitarist and composer whose work explores the intersections of jazz, classical and world music. Her musical journey began at an early age: she started playing classical piano at eight, studied classical guitar with Jean-Jacques Wathgen from the age of fourteen, and began lyrical singing two years later. These three disciplines have continued to influence her musical expression throughout her career.

At seventeen, Veda discovered jazz, a turning point that led her to study with renowned musicians including Pit Dahm, Pol Belardi, David Laborier, Jacques Pirotton and Erik Teuwens. Her interest in improvisation and harmonic exploration brought her to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she completed a Master’s degree in jazz guitar in 2022. During her studies, she worked with Fabien Degryse, Victor Da Costa, Fabrice Alleman, Manu Hermia, Pete Churchill, Arnould Massart and François Decamps. She also explored a wide range of musical styles, including Brazilian and Indian music, fusion and funk, which helped shape her open and versatile artistic identity.

Veda is an active presence on the Luxembourgish and Belgian jazz scenes and is involved in several projects reflecting her versatility. In 2019, she co-founded a duo with Malagasy guitarist Joël Rabesolo, creating a musical dialogue between different cultural and musical traditions. Their collaboration continues today, and in 2025 they released the single Arthur’s Room. In June 2026, they also performed together at Kinneksbond in Mamer.

Since 2020, Veda has led the Veda Bartringer Quartet, initially with Julien Cuvelier, Boris Schmidt and Maxime Magotteaux. What began as her master’s project developed into a lasting creative collaboration. The quartet released its first album, Deep Space Adventure, in April 2024, showcasing Veda’s lyrical guitar playing and distinctive compositional voice. In the same year, she was selected as a laureate of the Propulsion programme and nominated for Best Newcomer at the Luxembourg Music Awards.

Between 2021 and 2023, she collaborated with Belgian singer Ann Vandenplas, performing as an acoustic duo and appearing on national radio stations including RTBF Vivacité and DH Radio. She also participated in the RTBF Nomade project, directed by Sofian Hamzaoui, and contributed to Kid’s Phil – Une histoire de l’Avent en musique with the Philharmonie Luxembourg. In 2022, she co-created Lumens, a collective with Bernabé Balmelle, Hugo Dudziak and Charline Flammang, which presented its debut performance at La Ferme Rose in Brussels.

Since 2023, Veda has been a member of the Ensemble à Plectre municipal d’Esch-sur-Alzette, under the direction of Juan Carlos Muñoz. She has also developed a project with singer Anna Winkin, exploring the intimate dialogue between guitar and voice.

Her latest major project, Veda & The String Machine, brings her jazz quartet together with a string quartet, combining contemporary jazz, film music and orchestral arrangements. The ensemble features saxophone, guitar, double bass, drums, two violins, viola and cello. The project also includes guest artists such as Syrian-French flautist Naïssam Jalal and Belgian pianist Margaux Vranken.

The project’s album, Rise And Shine, was released on 6 June 2026, with an official album launch at the Philharmonie Luxembourg on the same day. The seven original compositions draw on autobiographical experiences and combine jazz with rich string arrangements and cinematic textures.

Veda & The String Machine continues to perform in Luxembourg and abroad, with upcoming concerts including performances in Kayl, Berlin, Marnach and Vianden in autumn 2026.

Through her different projects, Veda Bartringer continues to explore authenticity, connection and freedom in music, creating a personal musical language in which jazz, classical influences and storytelling come together.
